"Friend raising is built on a lifestyle of caring for people more as friends than as sources of funding." Ever since I read the book "Friend Raising" by Betty Barnett, my thinking about raising money for missions started to change. God has been showing me that his mission involves giving and receiving - yes, I need support to be able to go, but people also need to be involved in ministry through giving (and other means). We can't all 'go', but we can all 'send' in some way. Although it is challenging, I am trying (by God's grace) to live like the Apostle Paul did when he told the Philippian church that he cared more about how they could be blessed by giving, than the actual gift itself (Phil. 4:17).
